STANDARDS GUIDE
The manufacture of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is governed by EU Regulation 2016/425.
It defines the design, manufacturing and testing requirements for PPEs to ensure user safety.
CATEGORY 1
(minor risks)
No health consequences
Self-certification by the manufacturer and a technical data sheet are sufficient to certify product compliance.
CATEGORY 2
(intermediate risks)
May cause irreversible effects.
These PPEs are tested for compliance with European standards by an authorised body.
CATEGORY 3
(Serious risks)
Can lead to death.
In addition to compliance testing, this PPE is subject to compulsory quality control by a notified organisation.
